Jess voting for Hillary?

While she's naive at times, Jess is definitely a smart girl so much so I didn't expect this of her which came as a (awful) surprise. Schmidt jab at Hillary was hilarious and then making Jess dress as Trump was just genius.

Not a great episode but the small moments made it worthwhile.

Btw, Schmidt is right about democracy.

reply

I think it's funny that people think "democracy" was ever alive to begin with in this country. Our government is NOT and has never been a democracy. It's a republic.

reply

Politics have always been rigged whilst giving people the false impression they care about us. Citizens.

reply

You must be a Republican then. "Republic". Democrats should believe in "democracy". BTW - The country is supposed to be a democratic republic...

reply

You didn't pick up that Jess is very liberal in her values? It's been pretty blatant throughout the series.

reply

Liberal views doesn't mean being in support of liberals. That's like saying all Latinos speak Spanish, we don't.

reply

Completely unrelated. Let me put it this way, if you thought there was any way Jess was voting for Trump, you've been watching a different show.

reply

Technically, she doesn't have to vote for Trump or Hillary. They did make her a Green Party supporter before. Why not have her vote for Jill Stein? That would still fit in with Jess. She likes to root for the underdog. The whole Hillary plotline was more of the influence of the showrunner Liz Meriweather's view than Jess. The other writers probably thought it was better to make it Hillary since not everyone would be familiar with Jill Stein, I suppose.

reply

Exactly. Jill Stein isn't mainstream. The goal of the episode was to be relevant, Stein wouldn't give that to them.

In what universe would Jess not be for Hillary?

reply

You must not watch the show then.

reply

I've been watching NG since the very beginning. Jess just didn't seem the kind to be that gullible to vote for Hillary.

reply

There is literally nothing in her character that would suggest she would vote Trump.

And I don't think it's out of gullibility, like most people it's because Trump is *beep* joke.

reply

ya its really surprising a female self identified feminist elementary/middle school teacher from portland living in LA would vote for the democratic candidate 
