we all know it's gonna happen cause either Megan fox doesn't wanna come back or she is too expense. but this off screen *beep* is getting to the point that even when she's on the phone, her voice isn't heard but is just pretended one way by nick. it's dumb beyond belief and screams that they are already over with maybe just a on screen goodbye to look foreward to. I think the show runners realize Megan's character has more likability then Zoey's does, soo they're keep Megan off screen being a jerk to break them up. they already did this horribly with Ryan and Jess. then out of the blue Reagan will demand/act like she hasn't ever before and they will be broken up.
great writing, a eight year old could just barely match it. Learn to break up couples better dumbass writers.
They are better at the buildup (in most cases). I'm not a fan of the offscreen breakups either.
Megan Fox went on maternity leave so that's why they didn't have her back right at the start of S6 but she's definitely coming back (soon-ish).
In my opinion, Reagan and Nick didn't have any chemistry. There was definitely a lot of social buzz when Megan Fox joined the show but I didn't see it translate to better ratings. Show is still on the bubble currently.
I don't want an offscreen breakup between Nick and Reagan either. I think it was out of character for her to fall in love with Nick anyway. She just seemed to be annoyed by him during most of her arc and the writers shoehorned in the romance angle.
Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your view point - she is coming back. Max Greenfield confirmed her being on set when he co-hosted that Kelly morning show the other day....starting bout 4mins in...
She's a boring 1 dimensional character played by an actress who struggles to play anything other than that specific trope. Please get rid of her. This is just a massive and pointless waste of time that could have been spent on other characters and storylines. It was a major misstep when the writers decided that their response to Zooey's absence should be to introduce another relationship for Nick instead of just using the time to develop Cece & Schmidt (spent almost 0 time on wedding storylines), or Winston, or even Nick in another aspect (like career) beyond a superficial level.
As it is they have spent a significant amount of time in the last two seasons on a relationship that will basically last 2-3 episodes on screen and in which we all know what will happen at the end (it wont work out) not only due to the show's obvious endgame, but because they aren't going to make Meghan a regular. If they were going to go that route they could have just kept around Chang's grand daughter or the british guy longer.
I think adding Reagan in was a mis-step as well. I thought the rest of the cast did great carrying the show in Zooey's absence before Reagan came into the picture. I really liked the episode with Winston and Cece together. They should have done more of those pairings that we don't usually get to see and deepened the existing relationships like you said.
Aside from Reagan not being able to stick around, the writers always have trouble writing in a 6th character. It's "Coach" in S3 all over again. It seems the only way they can write for a 6th character is if they downgrade one of the existing characters. There just isn't enough time to give six characters equal weight in a 30 min episode. For Coach, they did it to Winston. Now it feels like they're doing it to Nick. They obviously aren't going to move that story forward until Reagan comes back.
