at 10:19 of james wonder the writer respond on jess hate

I feel like the writer's are talking to us though the principal about how much we hate Jess. hahaha loved it.

I definitely noticed that as well! To quote myself from another thread:

I felt like I was reading the message boards when Genevieve was talking to Jess.

"They don't like you; at all. They despise you. Get rid of Jess. These aren't my words Jess; I'm just repeating what I'm hearing. Jess is the worst. Can't stand the sight of her"

reply

This reminds me of the ending to that Sam storyline where he squished the brownies. They should have let that be the true ending to that storyline. Jess is actually more likeable when we see her dealing with the fact that people don't like her.

reply

not really cause then she tries soo hard to be liked that it hurts/ruins another persons plans/day.

reply

That's usually how it goes now, but I was thinking more of episodes like "Jess and Julia," the version of Jess that is okay with people not liking her if she stays true to herself. We saw that to a lesser extent in "James Wonder."

People-pleasing Jess is the worst. I like when the writers actually let her deal with people not liking her in a realistic way. More "Jess and Julia" and less "300 Feet."

reply

I like how Schmidt's mom kept shutting Jess down every time Jess tried to talk to her. Schmidt's mom even tells Jess to bring her whole "people pleasing" thing down. I f#@king love that.

reply

Schmidt's mom is great. My favorite line of hers is when she tells Jess, "I need less from you." Maybe Jess hasn't worked in a while because she hasn't had an effective foil in a while. When people challenge Jess, it actually makes her more likeable and relatable.

reply

yeah that's what I was talking about! hahaha I was soo happy, I just thought finally. someone told Jess to keep it to herself. that's all she did that episode was getting shut down by Schmidt's mom.

reply

Oh that felt so.beeping.gooooood!

New to this forum, but not new to the show. I came here to see if others disliked Jess, and apparently I came to the right place!
It seems each episode brings us another example of Jess whining about something or her inconsistency about what kind of guy she wants to be with, and if she wants a relationship. Parts of it is weak writing and parts of it is ZD's over-acting, but the result is the same.
It was glorious when Jess was on jury duty and we got a month of solidly funny episodes without her

reply

yeah and I think the show's issue is also that they keep making Jess the villain in almost every episode. just watch any episode and she always causes the problem/makes it worse but at the end of every episode she ends up twisting it on everyone else that it was their fault, so she never says sorry to acknowledge that she messing up.
