You know this movie was good...

Because majority of the threads here are just a bunch of echo chambers saying how "mediocre" this film was as if half of the MCU films weren't already mediocre.

I bet most of you had already made up your minds before you watched a single second of the film but try to come across as objective.

reply

It's the Internet. It's just expected at this point with everything.

reply

Yeah, well, DC fans. You know how they are.

But it is true that half the Marvel films are mediocre. They're not all great, only a few are really good, and IMHO that includes "BP".

So I keep paying to see Marvel films because the good ones are a blast... and even the medicre ones are pretty fun.

reply

True. I’d say the worst MCU movies are Iron Man 3 and Dark World and even they have their moments. Not all movies in a franchise are going to be gems but if the series is still a fun romp, I’ll keep buying tickets.

reply

I really like "IM3", I genuinely think it's a good movie. And "TDW" is a guilty pleasure of mine.

No, the really mediocre ones are "Ultron" and "IM2", and I suppose "Ant Man". That one could have been a scream if handled correctly, ut it came out totally generic.

reply

My comment isn't directed just at DC fans because the fact of the matter is majority of the criticism I have seen for BP has actually come from racist MCU fans.

I do agree that at the end of the day it's your right to choose what movies you spend your money on, I just hope you guys are just as subjective when talking to fans of movies you don't like.

reply

Just because some fans didn't like Black Panther, it doesn't make them racists. Let's not turn into the Star Wars fandom.

reply

I've always suspected that there's a big overlap between DC and Star Wars fans. Same personality types, you know, similar senses of humor (none).

The only real difference is that SW are angrier, and why SW appeals to angry people I don't know.

reply

Weren't you one of those angry Star Wars fans a while back?

reply

I absolutely love Star Wars, but I'm not really part of the fandom because I'm sane and that means I don't get along with the majority of other fans.

It's a very odd situation, even for online nerds.

reply

I never said all that disliked it was racist. I'm just pointing out that it was obvious that a good portion that was hating on it before it even released and still up in their feelings over it are clearly motivated by racism.

reply

It is racist in itself for you to assume that. Making assumptions about someone's motivations based on nothing but the color of their skin falls within the definition of racism.

reply

Except my assumption isn't based on their skin color but the words they choose to use.

reply

"obviously motivated by racism". Unless every one of those flat out said they don't like it because of various racial reasons, you can't reach that conclusion without some prejudice on your part.

reply

I enjoyed it.It was as good as most of the other MCU movies. No better no worse. But like Wonder woman not nearly as good as all the ridiculous overhype would lead you to believe.

reply

Or you know, maybe some people just find it mediocre...

reply

And those people have more than likely moved on with their lives.

My OP is referring to all the folks still crying in this message board.

reply

It's noble for sure, but overall entertainment-wise it's mediocre. It needed some rewrites to draw out its potential. As it is, the characters are relatively dull with the exception of maybe Killmonger.

Yes it was made by a black director with a mostly black cast, so what? It had the potential to be great, but it's not.

reply

And you're entitled to that opinion.

reply

But, like I said, it's good enough. It's noble and certainly has some gems to think about. I liked it. But, considering the potential -- like Don McGregor's run on the comic -- it could've been great.

reply

Well they might be like me in that they just saw it.

And now I can happily tell you that yes - it was mediocre. Exceptionally so. (And I was looking forward to seeing it).

reply

You claim that you were looking forward to seeing it but just now saw it. What was the hold up?

reply

None of my cinema going friends were interested in going and my wife isn't a fan of these types of films. As she recently gave birth to our first child I've been taking the chance to 'catch up' (while she sleeps). I'll be watching Thor next - 7 year long hold up for that one...

reply

How does any of that stop you from going to see it yourself? Was your wife giving birth the ENTIRE time it was in the theaters, keep in mind it was very successful and stayed in the theaters for a while.

reply

Because I don't like going to the cinema by myself. I like film watching to be a social experience.

reply

Or you know...maybe some people actually really LOVED it and DON'T find it mediocre?? Geee....that's a novel thought now isn't it?

reply

I'm a Marvel fan and I thought the movie fell flat, it tried too hard and felt like the sequel to Coming to America.

reply

So the proof that it's good are all the posters saying it's no good...?

Okee doke.

reply

Gaslight post like this and all the others that troll these boards is who I'm referring to, but nice try.

reply

It's the internet.
