DCEU fanboys - "Whatever, people just like them so much because they have so much humor. DCEU is real and serious and stuff."
shareMarvel succeeds because they make quality films for adults, with comic book elements that will appeal to all ages. DC fails because they make films aimed at teen comic super-fans and adults who can't/won't grow up.
shareMy post was sarcasm but I mildly disagree with your sentiment. I honestly can't say the bulk of Marvel films are adult films. They aren't G of course, I just think they are true general audience movies. Adults can see them just fine and not feel like a kid while kids, for the most part...can see them as well and enjoy the movie without their parents fearing they may be too young. In appeal, they remind of 90s family sitcoms....something for all ages where neither parties will be bored.
When it comes to DC, I can appreciate the darker tone, or more adult tone perhaps...the biggest mistake they made was handing the keys to Snyder and slapping it together and rushing things out.
IMHO Marvel gas done a great job of making films that really do appeal to all ages. And all sexes and ethnic groups, including anyone with a sense if humor I fun, as i've said they tend to build their films around universal emotional themes that everyone can identify with.
DC has tried SO hard to be serious, but the fact is it takes more than an absence of humor or fun to make a film meaningful.
No surprise there. After the juggernaut Black Panther broke these same records before reviews started rolling in, this was to be expected. If you take Black Panther out of the equation of course, it’s safe to say the epic that is Infinity War has always been guaranteed to break all kinds of records (and make Marvel’s apparent rival look even more insignificant).
Come what may, Marvel is KING!
BP is huge but IW will go well beyond...
shareNo doubt. Unlike Black Panther (which many projected it was going to make $750 mil at best), most people expect Infinity War to easily cross 1 billion and be Marvel’s biggest hit yet. How far it will go is the question.
It’ll be fantastic if it far exceeds expectations.
No doubts...
share"MEANWHILE! AT THE LEGION OF DOOM!"
shareWow...
very surprised by this...
its very impressive AIW already topped Black Panther...considering Black Panther Topped BvS and BvS topped both The Avengers and AOU in Presales...
with results like this, We may very well be hearing about AIW approaching The Force awakens for most Presales ever...
I didnt think AIW would get close to TFA...But for AIW to top BP that fast...It seems at least possible now...
I still expecting a 215 M OW....But i'm now starting to at least consider that AIW may open over 230 M(especially if Reviews are Great)
Its seems AIW is truly being seen as A EVENT FILM...
If Reviews are great, and The film itself has DEFINING moments, the death of major characters, All TIME great Action sequences, or if Thanos is A All time great villain, basically If The film Has A "HOOK" something that makes its seem "Iconic"...the box office could get crazy..
I think audience are really buying in on it as being the "Conclusion"...Or that everything as been building to this...which again makes it feel even more special and then You add in the 20 + Heroes(Most ever for a super hero film)...its An EVENT FILM....but if you then add Great reviews and Iconic Moments, rather it be the death of Beloved characters, ALL TIME great action sequences or A Truly great villain...This film could go from an Event film to a Generational Film...
right now, I'm still expecting a 200 M+ OW and a 1.3 to 1.4 Billion total...
But the potential is here for something even bigger(But I thought the same thing about AOU, BvS,CW and JL)...If Avengers IW doesnt top the 1.5 Billion marker...
then I'm officially Concluding Its NOT POSSIBLE...that The Avengers 1 WAS the peak Audience and Box office a CBM can make!
