"Ebonics" is just another name for African-American slang, some of which even white people speak in everyday life, like, "Here's a shout-out", "Come at me", and a few other terms. Nothing weird or strange about it you can't understand.

And, as the characters are African, not African AMERICAN, there would be no need for them to speak in African American slang. In fact, to do so would be incredibly racist.
