Nobody in China...

Would want to see all black cast of a superhero movie. Very strange decission by Disney/Marvel.

China market is very important nowadays. It seems that the producers would bet it all on domestic market. Ballsy!

And here we are on the eve of the release of Black panther into China and the movie is doing phenomenal business.

We had a spirited discussion on Disney/Marvel marketing and it does appear that the Marvel branding will indeed make the difference as to the film being accepted in China. South Korea has rewarded the film quite handsomely but indeed the filming in Busan created much of the hype to see the movie. The big thing was the cast and the message appears to have not "Turned Off" the Asian market and they don't appear to be "Tuning Out" also.

Disney/Marvel has been quite shrewd but the bottom line is that the film did not need and never did need China to be a financially successful film.

BP will reach the $1 Billion bragging right without Japan, China and Russia boxoffices.

There's not much racism crap for blacks in China. They even do black face there and 'normal' blacks don't complain about it (only western ones).

The film is due to be released in China soon.

Would one of you box-office obsessives be a dear, and post a report on this thread in a few days? It'll be interesting to see how the predictions compare to the reality, and I myself think it'll be a big hit.

BP is doing + $100 Million in China. It did fine in the Middle Kingdom.

Thanks!

Really, if this movie is a hit in China, it might change the way Hollywood does certain things.

Ouch! These guys and their predictions...

We'll soon find out, but I strongly suspect you're wrong. Wasn't Chadwick Boseman voted the most popular American actor in China last year? I have a hunch the Chinese will come out in droves for the film just like the rest of the world has been.
