Messy 3rd act could have been avoided with honest communication

Bradley Cooper telling his son, look that kid is the kid of a guy I killed, that's why you should stay away.

Then the son of chooses to still hang out with kid, at least could have had the chance to talk and apologise it.

But then I guess we'd miss the drama for the movie.

i feel like he didnt know that was the same kid. the town seemed medium sized enough for Bradley Coopers character to be distracted enough by politics to never notice that the kid is the son of Ryan Gosling
