The gay subtext?

I'm gay, don't take offense, but there was a very STRANGE tone throughout the film. From the Bird on his weird eye contact fetish and the beautification of all these shirtless make soldiers running around the base to the drag version of Cinderella... What was going on?

reply

They cant do that otherwise it will remind everyone of a certain david bowie POW film

Reminded me a lot of it anyway...

Interesting point that evaded my eye
The Japanese are known for eye fetishes look it up if u dare lol obviously Jolie's thing aswas the rest of the homoeroticism
And the lack of accurate portrayal of the Japanese brutality I credit all these aspects to AJ

reply

The camp was full of men, they had to have men dressed as women in the play.
The camp leader was very camp I agree,it was weird.

But I don't think there was a gay subtext.

^Uh rude. Actually OP, I saw another post on this topic so other people noticed as well. I sure did!

reply

definately gay undertones

reply

Gays think everything is sexual.... that's one of your problems. Obviously, the bird liked to be in control, eye contact is one controlling method, so is giving orders, so is demeaning and humiliating others, getting in someone's face and staring them down, etc.. he wanted to push Louis as far as he could, because he wanted him to give up, but the reality is, Louis was much stronger than the bird... and that's why the bird he broke down crying - jealously, rage, envy, hate and pride consumed him. You just have to really understand human nature.

reply

Yes, OP, every movie has a gay subtext. Because, of course, everyone is secretly gay. No gay wish-fulfillment agenda there.

reply

The OP never said every movie had a Gay subtext and tell me, what exactly is the "Gay wish-fulfillment agenda"? Can't say I've ever heard of that one.

Also, if you're speaking to the OP, try replying to the OP.

Respect what you have 🌌

reply

Why is that a problem?

reply

Gays think everything is sexual

There are a certain few in every group that tend to think everything is sexual. To assume all Gays in general do that, is ignorant.

Respect what you have 🌌

Anything I've ever read about POWs, prisoners, and others deprived of female company for any length of time is that they lose interest in sex; why think about what you're not going to have (although food often became an obsession.)

Stories I read about the German concentration camps described those who were starving and became obsessed with food were called Musselmen; it usually marked the end for them.

I wonder if Jolie would know this?

I only have one person on ignore, but I've had to ignore him 625 different times.

reply

Nope. You're just 'projecting'. Lots of gay men do. Especially when their s3x life is crappy

reply

Nah! Not just us! You too. Although I accept it: I project myself a lot.

See, you saw asking for gay subtext as something "merely sexual", you did projected yourself too! OP never mentioned sex, but subtext, as you know attraction implies other facets, not just sex, you projected he was talking about sex, because when you watch a movie or see a relationship, the only you see is sex, quite one-dimentional of you, sorry your s3x life is crappy, we all have been there, you're right, we understand you (on projectional level)!

reply

I'm straight, and I didn't get any gay subtext in the movie whatsoever.

I've noticed, as illiteracy seems to be on the rise, more and more people don't know the difference between "then" and "than". Also "of" and "have" as in people writing things like "I would of gone".

Sad...

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

reply

I agree Chilone. The "of" mistake and using "then" instead of "than" are ridiculously common mistakes now. I don't even understand how a person writes "I should of gone to the store" without noticing that "of gone" makes absolutely no sense.
