I've read that Louie became a JW, but he wanted the movie to have a "universal" appeal, so they didn't specify his religious beliefs.
Does anyone know if this is true?
I myself am a Witness. I found this movie to be humbling, but faith strengthening, regardless of one's faith.

No he was not a JW. His history is quite available on the internet.
