During the whole process of surrender from Aug. 6-Sep. 2, 1945, the word "surrender" was never used once publicly by the Japanese. Apparently they simply forfeited the game in the late innings. And MacArthur let them get away with it.
I only have one person on ignore, but I've had to ignore him 625 different times.

Letting your enemy save face is a small price to pay for ending a war.
I'll look for the quote but after the Bomb was dropped, the Japanese said something like the "war is not necessarily progressing to our advantage".
