Where the F is his beard?
45 days at sea, and he's still just got that van dyke. unrealistic. took me out of the movie.

shareMy brother shaves maybe twice a year, and that's only when the peach fuzz gets noticeable. He's 52 years old. I'm 50, and have to shave daily. Same mother and father. Go figure.

I can't speak for your genetics, but that guy's beard was still perfectly shaped when they bump into the japanese ship. just saying, unrealistic.
shareMaybe they used shark fin to shave!
It's that man again!!
It's a good point. But they had a knife. I personally don't think anyone would care about shaving in such a situation though
Clark: Jonathan Kent; isn't it a little past your bedtime?
Just throwing this out there because I have no idea whether it's true or not, but might it have been the case that malnutrition kept the beard from coming in?
shareI had the same thought. After looking it up though all I could find was a forum post which did say it could effect hair growth, but he was also trying to sale a lot of supplements. It would be nice to have a good source on this as I believe it would effect the rate of hair growth especially the face.
shareMaybe they were so hungry they nibbled on each other's facial hair while the other was asleep?

Not everyone can grow a beard.Look at old photos of u boat crews who didn't shave due to water rationing .A lot have small goatees too.
shareAgree. I had to laugh. One had a perfectly shaped van dyke, another had a bit of scruff and the other's face was smooth after a month at sea.
shareThey keep pretty good hair, too. They must've been taught how to stop hair growth in the army.
