Bad directing took me out of this movie in the beginning!
I know I am late to the party here, but I just watched it. I really thought I would enjoy this film, but some very amateurish mistakes took me right out of this film.
In the start, we see the bombing run. All the guys are in the plane. The gunners are looking out the sides of the plane. What obvious thing is missing here? There was a total absence of wind! Even when the bomb doors open there is not a strand of hair blowing around. I mean, I really don't understand how something like this can be just overlooked.
And again, later on, we see a nice underwater shot of the rafts after being strafed by the plane. We see multiple bullet holes in the bottom of the raft. The cinematography was actually set to emphasize the holes because of the rays of sun passing through them. When they climbed back on the raft? No holes. Or if you want to argue that they were laying over them, fine (though not possible), then where's the water in raft?
Also, we were shown one of the rafts floating away in the storm. How come there it was again in the next scene?
Overall, the movie was okay. But these mistakes aren't just small continuity errors. It really bothered me as I watched the film, and I think Jolie was mostly given a big pass on this movie. Though, to be fair, I haven't researched into it since I only watched the movie just now.
