The very last end credits scene
Mikey: "I may be very *beep* up, but I think that's Omar from the wire sitting on our couch."
I wonder how many people got that reference, and it was my favourite part in an otherwise mediocre movie

Yup, yup I was like oh snap The Wire!!
shareWho was that? I have no idea...
shareOmar played on the wire which takes place in Baltimore. Since I'm from and live in Baltimore, we talked about this show a lot in class. My whole theater was rolling in this outtake probably because we all understood it.
shareYea, but why was it in this movie? Did they just put a character from the Wire in the credits with absolutely no connection to anything Wire-related in the movie? So there is no "reference"... it was just a zero-related cameo?
shareMichael B. Jordan played Wallace in The Wire so he is good friends with Michael K. Williams (Omar). Williams dropped by the set and since the director is a big fan of The Wire, they gave him a scene with a mini-reunion of actors from The Wire.
I cheered during that part.
They made a reference early on to Ricky in Boyz n The Hood. Morris Chestnut will forever be the guy who got shot while scratching a lotto ticket.
And Michael B. Jordan, despite his talent, is always gonna be Wallace. At least to me, since The Wire is one of the greatest shows ever.
"Where's Wallace, String?! Where's Wallace?"
Tough scenes to watch.
what reference is there "to get"? they said he was from the wire, and they said who he was. what else is there?
i thought it was a dumb scene. why did they act all surprised when they were out of character? obviously they knew he was on set right behind them. and why would his good friend call him "omar from the wire" instead of "mike"?
made no sense.
