Marcus turned on "Santa" so why are they together and "Santa" turned good so this doesn't make much sense.

He became a better person, his friendship with the sad lonely boy caused his heart to open so he should not be a bad guy anymore AND that "elf" tried to kill him wtf?

In the shot where they show Willie talking to Marcus, did Willie look like the last 13 years had been good to him? Also in the real world people don't change overnight, so it's not a stretch to think Sue would get tired of Willies *beep* and leave him, causing him to return to being a drunken jerk again.
