shareYeah, the people they have to write and direct fill me with no confidence at all. They probably didn't bother asking Zwigoff back, after the fuss he kicked up over the first film (they agreed to give him final cut and went back on their word). Truth be told, Zwigoff probably isn't the easiest guy to work with, but his view of people on the fringes of society is a big reason as to what makes Bad Santa (along with Ghost World) so glorious! This sequel just isn't gonna have that same feeling.
shareZwigoff is blacklisted which is one problem, another was that that Bad Santa really felt like an independent film more than a main stream comedy. I mean when I saw it in theaters no one was there or cared to see a drunk Billy Bob Thorton robbing shopping malls at xmas. I mean the theaters were packed just no one saw this movie. It's gained so much momentum as a cult classic now that this sequel is going to be main stream, the producers don't want Zwigoff, although I'm pi**ed that they replaced the writers, Marc Waters I don't have a problem with. His directing is fine, just the material he's worked with isn't very good, aside from the Spiderwick Chronicles, but Freaky Friday was horrible, producers wanted a rehash and Lindsey Lohan, directing and pacing were fine, and Mean Girls was written by Tina Fey but she completely misunderstood the tone of the book, so that should've been a complete dumpster fire, yet the directing and pacing were fine and it's considered a cult classic. So Marc Waters I'm fine with, it's what the producers are gonna want to see now that this movie is mainstream that worries me.
shareVery true. Your right I guess most of its in the writing and that bothers me too. But yeah I can't imagine it having the same feel. Hope it does but like you say, it'll be more mainstream
