Replacing Terry Zwigoff with Doug Ellin?
That doesn't inspire much confidence.
shareMark Waters is Directing. Which inspires less confidence.
shareI wonder why Terry Zwigoff isn't coming back? He's a great director and hasn't made a movie in years.
Sad news.
Lazenby, Dalton & Craig ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES!
I hate to say it--and it might sound absurd to many of you--but I have a feeling this movie might end up being PG-13. It looks like the director has made mostly family-friendly fare. He seems an odd choice for a sequel to "Bad Santa," one of the most raunchy R-rated movies in recent memory. Hopefully he won't cave in to the suits who will undoubtedly want to tone this one down, and make more money by allowing teenagers in. Of course, it still might be R. I know BBT has said countless times before toning this character down wouldn't feel right.
sharedon't worry, they recently released a red band trailer confirming the R-rating. mark waters actually has made ONE R-rated movie before this but i don't think very many people know about it

He wasn't a fan of the final cut of the original, the directors cut is what he wanted in theaters. The final cut is mostly what the Coen brothers wanted.

haven't seen any of his films yet but i hear he has made some solid movies so that leaves some hope
shareHouse of Yes and Mean Girls were great.
sharewow.. I didnt know that, I love his films!
Why was he blacklisted? And what does that actually means, is het not allowed to make movies? Or just got a bad rap?
My thoughts exactly. My excitement over discovering this was being made was immediately deflated upon seeing that name attached.
shareI know, it's *beep* ZWIGOFF NEEDS BACK PAIN RELIEF
"Do you want to give him a kiss?"
Zwigoff said in an interview that he has no interest in making sequels.
Here's the interview: http://www.indiewire.com/2012/12/terry-zwigoff-talks-battling-over-bad-santa-his-preferred-directors-cut-much-more-in-candid-interview-250073/
Weird is the new normal.
I agree, the first Bad Santa was all about the directors style of directing. It's what made the film! And knowing Zwigoff, he probably hates doing sequels. Everyone else attached to this film are just sell outs. Including Billy Bob Thornton!
