But, in these movies, they are doing it for the sake of comedy. Showing female genitalia just doesn't have a whole lot of humor to it - it's considered a beautiful thing, whereas most people would agree that male genitalia is not the most attractive thing. Therefore, it serves as the punchline to a joke better than a woman's. That's just the way that it is - it's not a double standard. PLUS, a male's genitalia sticks out, so it's far more visible than a woman's. That makes it more awkward which, again, better serves the comedy
Female genitals aren't funny looking and instead are "beautiful"? Really? Not according to Hollywood where they constantly make fun of vaginas and call them ugly, gross, filthy, and disgusting (and don't even get me started on what Hollywood says about menstrual blood). That doesn't sound to me like they think the body part is normal looking. Also, comedies show boobs all the time. Are boobs funny looking? Do you laugh when a woman shows her boobs? Vagina is actually way funnier looking than boobs, so why are they showing the lesser funny looking body part in comedies? And not to mention, non-comedies don't show vaginas either. Did we see a vagina in Fifty Shades of Grey? Was that a comedy? When have they shown a vagina in a non-comedy serious film before? The point people are making is they don't show vagina AT ALL, whether it is a comedy or non-comedy, in Hollywood mainstream films.
Just for your record, they have shown vaginas in comedic manner - on TV shows. Actress Lena Dunham showed her vagina on Girls on HBO in a comedic shock value manner. They also had a sexting episode where a pussy pic was shown on camera on the show Orange is the New Black and it was hysterical. As you can see, you CAN show vaginas in a funny manner. Hollywood filmmakers always choose not to. They fear the body part and fear the backlash that showing the body part would create - just as women went ballistic when vaginas were shown in these two shows, even though they were shown in a funny manner.
Also, your justification in showing male nudity by claiming male genitals stick out is pretty dumb. They zoom in and show lingering closeup shots of male genitals even though they don't need to, and for women, they NEVER EVER do that and instead, use fake pubic hair merkins to cover up everything. A shaved vagina shown up close for a lingering amount of time is MUCH more awkward and will produce much more shock value. Heck, the shaved FAKE vagina shown in the movie Knocked Up for a nanosecond caused so much shock, even TMZ wrote an article at the time questioning how they were able to show that in a film. Showing male genitals is now a broken record because it's been done to death that it's becoming an old joke.
And yes, there have been movies that have fairly explicitly explored sex that pretty generously show both genders - ALL WERE FOREIGN FILMS, not Hollywood. The pansy "males" who run Hollywood are only interested in showing men graphically nude without equal female nudity in return. That's why they are crumbling and films such as this one become box office bombs.
