Kind of far fetched

I just started binge watching this and I’m now on season 2 episode 1. I really can’t accept that a sergeant in the United States marines would hold more love or value for the son of his capturer instead of bonding and restrengthen the relationship with his own flesh and blood, his only son. He would rather leave behind the memory of his traitor father who chose vengeance for sons and daughters of the enemy? Every officer in the military knows in warfare there are casualties of war, which include the loss of civilian lives. Hard to grasp the idea of a good ole boy losing faith in god and country.

I see what you mean, but he was also tortured and broken psychologically by Abu Nazir for eight years. Brody was really messed up by the time he returned.

Some of this show you have to suspend your disbelief on. I can understand your feeling on that, but as the show moves on past Brodie in future seasons it gets a lot better. The last 3 seasons are just amazing.

You have to recall that he thought he had killed his fellow American soldier, and felt unworthy, also was broken down and built back up. But is the interior stuff like you mentioned, and also Carrie's internal experience as bipolar that is hard to integrate for me.
