Was good until they introduced Sugar Rush.

Went downhill from there.

I think that is where the story really takes off and develops.

Thanks for the input, now run along and play your GTA or Covert Ops.

I'm actually not into those games at all. Nice try, though.

So it was good until character development set in, huh. Maybe you should clarify your points of criticism a bit more there, champ.

i liked sugar rush. i didn't like how the game jokes moved aside for the candy puns by then. though i thought it was still funny and all.

I agree.
All the promise went at that point and it became too clichéd in the character development department.
Carbon copy characters with interactions we've seen a hundred times before.

Very disappointing film. Wanted more classic games and less annoying characters.

reply

It would be even more cliched if they added in more classic games.

^This. Didn't mind them focusing on one location, or less characters. But it wasn't anything original, versus the premise, which was. That was my problem. It sets itself up as something different then turned out to be more of the same.

I know I know. "Kids film. What did you expect?". I don't know why just because something is for kids or family means it has to aim for the lowest common denominator. Kids are capable of enjoying and laughing at something that isn't retreaded ground for the adults watching with them.

I partially agree. While I wouldn't go as far as saying that it went downhill from that point, but it certainly lost its appeal a bit. Up until that point, I was intrigued as to what Ralph was going to do and what other popular video game characters he was going to interact with or what other famous video game consoles he was going to end up in. But sadly none of that happened and once he reached "Sugar Crush", the story got formulaic and focused more on Vanellope than Ralph. At times I felt that the movie should have been called "Go-Kartin' Vanellope"! LOL!

Mr McGee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry!

Sugar Rush was not an interesting enough place to spend so much time. Venelope was not an interesting enough character and Ralph's story suddenly takes a back seat to hers once he gets to Sugar Rush land.

reply

I mostly was just annoyed by Vanellope, or particularly her voice actress. Hearing that munchkin talk like she smokes 2 packs a day got old fast.

Your opinion is the opposite of the truth.

Kart games are my favorite kind, so I loved the Sugar Rush world. The characters and their respective karts were very creative/imaginative.
