The character is a total steal, down to the nose, of comedian/actor Ed Wynn.

King Candy's voice reminded me of Frank Morgan in the Wizard of Oz .

He reminds me of the Mad Hatter in the Disney animated Alice in Wonderland. who I believe was voiced by Wynn.

Intentional and that guy did an Awesome job. If I didn't know the older actor had passed away I would have sworn it was him!
