shareI don't think he meant dodge the bullets just that she had more then enough time to get behind the counter while the gunner was facing the other direction. Now if they had a flashback showing her push someone to safety they could've kept the secret while still making it more plausible.
shareThe perpetrator was firing a high-powered automatic weapon, not a pop-gun. Those bullets would have easily penetrated the counter.

Yes, but that's a big "IF." "Ducking" could mean anything. We don't know whether she crouched, bent down, lay on her stomach, back, or what. But I'd guess from the blood on her uniform at the end of the movie that she bent down at best. We DO know that she was hit. To the best of my recollection, when the perpetrator fired into the ice cream shop she was not visible, and that would mean the bullets got to her through the counter. Considering the caliber and power of that weapon, that would be no surprise.

Well before that EVERYONE is running and screaming about a guy with a gun. She wouldn't have even needed to duck at the sound of gunfire if she took all those other audio/visual clues.
shareI don't feel the shots of them looking at each other amidst the chaos were real, because the shots of the ice cream shop immediately before and after them were Stormy-free. She was not standing behind the counter. I think she was killed before he made it to that part of the mall.

That would make a lot more sense... because when it cuts to him looking at the ice cream shop the bullet holes are almost all well above the counter such that if she was hit it would have probably been in the head unless she just happened to have jumped up 2 feet in the air.
Frankly I had looked at that scene as being a goof, but now that you mention it as plausible that she was killed else where the scene isn't as lame.
Or to run into the back of the shop. There's always a back section. Stock, production, staff quarters, washroom facilities -- run and get into the bathroom. You'd think every in that shop would run into the back as soon as they heard shots. At least it would give another layer of wall for protection.
