hypothetical future, potential finales

I think the idea of an "end" is interesting. So far, the series has managed to maintain continuity, and not do a reboot. And though Sidney wasn't in the last, she could still come back for a definitive "final" appearance. All these things tend to happen in horror franchises, so it could still happen here. It might not for quite a long time, since the nature of the franchise allows for a changeover of characters while continuing the same story.

But I ponder. Maybe at some point they will do all those things, and I wonder how that would look? Because even if they're still making Scream movies in 50 years, Neve Campbell won't be in those, AI possibilities aside. So at some point they might actually announce, "This is Neve Campbell's last appearance," or "Next entry will be a reboot," or "Next entry will pretend none of the sequels happened and be it's own new continuity."

I just wonder how that would effect the series.

Honestly, I’m not a fan of the whole pretending sequels never happened. However I will say that I love Halloween: H20 and it is actually my favorite of the franchise. Yes they did pretend that after H2 Laurie went into hiding and changed her name. Having John a few years later and becoming head of a school. Rather than had Jamie and then lost her life in an accident. But by thinking differently about it it works. It was a great film that fit well into the franchise. Unlike the 40 years later ones that actually erased even the fact that Michael is her brother. I didn’t care for that. With that being said, let’s not butcher (pun intended) the Scream franchise by changing the stories/timeline. Unless it includes a certain person still being alive. Lol. Not that you are saying it will for sure happen, I just wanted to give my two cents haha.

As for Neve, I’m a fan of her and Sidney. It just doesn’t feel the same without her. Even her presence in V was barely there and it didn’t feel right. If there is an “end” movie to Scream I want her to be the lead. These are her movies! 👻
