He didn't have to "go for help" he had a cell phone chose not to phone the police. Then he left the scene. If he had phoned the police, he might have gotten out of any legal problems cause it was an accident, but his mairrage and business deals would have failed. So in his mind he had no choice cause his money and life's work were more important to him this anythibg.

He couldn't get a signal on his cell phone when he dialed 911 in the car.

That's not true. Did you even watch the movie? He started to dial 911, then decided not to do the right thing. He didn't want his cell phone records to implicate him in her death, so he called his former driver's son for a ride from a pay phone.

The sky is blue

It was pretty clear to me that he was too shocked/distressed/injured to worry about starting a fire and initially, before the fire, was leaving to get help.

But the fire gave him the opportunity to try to place himself somewhere else.

Who knows how these things start when you have roll overs, combined with electrical short circuits, tanks of fuel, etc.?

reply

... And continue with calling 911 to report the accident, he would have been still on the phone and killed by the blast.

reply

Wow. There's a new thought. Good one. Yet another moral decision the movie throws at you for thought.

So he simply had to get out. Or else...no movie. Good choice there! :^)
