Doesn't make any sense!

I liked the movie right up to the last scene, the confrontation between him and his wife. Up to that point it makes perfect sense and the story is solid, clever, suspenseful. But then she comes up with that blackmail which does not make any sense to me. She does that on account of him "breaking Brooke's heart". I assume that breaking Brooke's heart means that Brooke became aware of his shady deals and illegal transactions. However, the wife knew all along about it and given that Brooke had a pretty important role at the company it is very likely that she was at risk of finding out sooner or later or could even be considered an accessory to the crime.

So why the surprise when they both knew the risk?? Why going all bitchy on him when she was in the know about his dealings which directly involved his employers, ie. their daughter??

His wife knew about the affairs, but not the money issues. I also thought it was a weird thing to do. It showed in the movie that Brooke found out what her dad did. She told him she could be an accessory to his crimes. But the wife didn't know
most of the time which is why she was expecting the money for the charity. He didn't give it to her until the deal was done.
