what happened to Robert's internal bleeding???!?

Seems to me the injuries to his abdomen sustained in the car accident don't tend to just go away, especially when normal day-to-day activity is never halted. When he stood up and made his way to the podium in the final scene, I sort of expected him to keel over dead, which would be a more fitting end than the smash cut to black.

I agree wholeheartedly. Since he obviously sustained some significant injuries from the accident, there's no way he could have survived without medical attention...unless he received it without that being something he divulged to his family.

reply

Nah, you can survive some broken ribs. You'd have to be one tough SOB but he seemed to be.

And an ending where he keeled over on the podium dieing from internal injuries would have been too contrived. It would have had a heck of a lot more people complaining about the ending than the ending provided.

reply

It served more as a red herring than anything.

We were expecting something big to come out of it, it was just some soft tissue bruising, and not any real injury.

reply

there was heavy bruising, and his buddy said that he might have internal bleeding, it was never confirmed...

reply

I thought the blood would start seeping through his shirt while he was talking to the detective in his office!

reply

There was no evidence he had internal bleeding and I disagree that one needs to be a tough SOB to survive it. I hardly categorize myself as one and I survived a very similar type injury. The main issue with damage to the rib cage is the threat of punctured organs. Otherwise, time and some type of abdominal truss helps the healing process.
