How did they know the picture of the lisence plate was a fake?

How could Gere tell that the picture was doctored?

reply

The numbers on the licence plate looked a lot more fuzzy and pixelated on the fake picture than they did on the lawyer's car, so it looked like they weren't part of the original picture.

reply

Pixilated - taken on a colour photocopier and not hugely high resolution.

reply

Actually the fake photo was higher resolution than the one really taken with the toll cameras. It was too sharp to have been real.

It was so obviously badly pixellated to the viewer that they didn't need a comparison photo. They could just compare it to the rest of the photo.

Of course we're to believe that the person who faked it used Windows paint or something, with nearest pixel filtering when they stretched and overlaid it on the doctored photo... highly improbable.

On another viewing, they really cheated us here. The first picture they show, although we can only see it on a TV screen, is clearly not pixellated but looks high resolution. Only later when they get the comparison is it blocky by comparison.

I doubt it would have mattered anyway. In court the original tape would have to be produced and the cop said it had been lost. Trail over, thanks for wasting the court's time.

In reality though, the cop wanted the fake photo to get things rolling and then wait for the confessions to roll in. What was really stupid was that the registration for the car should have shown the make and model. Jimmy would have simply shown that he didn't own the vehicle in the picture. It never would have gone to trail.

They could tell from some of the pixles and from having seen quite a few shops in their time.

reply

The REAL reason they knew it was fake, because Jimmy said he didnt take the toll road. So they knew the cops had to be lying.

Because the guy said he didn't go through the toll plaza, so it must have been dotored.
