The first season was great.. some of the best writing, acting and execution I have seen on television in ages..

But this crap?? Every episode I have seen, I have to click the 'info' button to make sure I'm not watching something on Skinemax. They have somewhat of a storyline, but fill each episode with softcore porn instead of the character derived plot of the first season. The characters have meaning and plot, but the show is more focused on the sexual acts of the house than the arena battles that allowed the first season to gain infamy.

I understand that they had to do what they could because the main character could not continue because of health reasons, but why sit loyal viewers through this type of trash? I want Spartacus worthy material, not big budget softcore porn.

I liked GotA a lot, but I kind of agree that some of the softcore porn and rape scenes were a little much and not super crucial to the plot. When I found out this was a prequel I was excited to learn more about certain characters, which is what I like about it.

I'm not sure if this is a very accurate depiction of how a Roman House would have been run. Romans did have a very different idea of sex, so it wouldn't have been outrageous or uncommon to have sex with your slaves... but letting someone else sleep with your slaves... little bit abnormal.

Whatfor? Slaves were not seen as people, but property. I guess loaning out a slave for sex would be as loaning out a dildo today.
