Crixus Fking Batiatus' wife

So why was Batiatus' wife trying to get pregnant from Crixus? Could Batiatus not perform?
Also... does she get pregnant?

She hadn't provided Batiatus with a son/heir, as alluded to on a few occasions by Titus and Batiatus himself, despite being married for many years. In Gods of the Arena it is mentioned that the seed of a Gaul is said to be the most potent, and she asks Crixus about his lineage, discovering his father had five sons as did his father before him.

She saw banging a slave as beneath her and it disgusted her, but because she "loved her husband above all others" she was willing to try to anything to provide him with an heir.

Of course, those misgivings about having sex with Crixus eventually gave way and she started having feelings for him too.

We frequently see Batiatus "performing" so it is possibly a fertility issue, who knows, and yes, she does get pregnant prior to the end of the first series of Spartacus.

I like the first time she asks him to penetrate her. she just bends over as though it's a mechanical act that she has to go through.

but in later penetrations she seems to really enjoy crixus's penetrations.
