Hindsight being 20/20: Batiatus' Choice

Had Batiatus known what was coming once he first laid eye's upon Spartacus, do you think he (Batiatus) would have simply just killed him (Spartacus) immediately upon sight or do you think he would have kept Spartacus on as a gladiator but refrained from foolishly killing Spartacus' wife?

I'm sure he would have immediately killed Spartacus, but am interested in hearing other opinions on the matter.

If he had left Spartacus' wife alive he probably wouldn't have managed to convince spartacus to accept his fate as a gladiator. There would Always be the fear of Spartacus revolting and taking his wife to freedom.

Spartacus brought in the money and fame that Batiatus needed/wanted. He could use him until the injury from Varro. Then he could make sure Spartacus dies from the injury.

However, since everyone turned on him, he might spend the rest of his life being paranoid. He'd probably become even more strict with them. I wonder if it would even occur to him to treat them better.
