I've heard the actors were in actual fighter jets for this movie
Except in the case of Tom Cruise who had to use model airplane drone so he didn't appear to small in the cockpit of the actual plane when filming. And the other actors weren't allowed to fly planes in the same scene as his plane so you couldn't see the aircraft size difference.
