how can they start with something so good and end with something so crappy? All they had to do was copy it, and they couldn't even do that properly. Pathetic.

One positive aspect of re-making foreign-language films is that it attracts the attention of an audience that might have missed the original. I had never heard of El secreto de sus ojos, but now that I've seen the re-make (which I enjoyed), I look forward to tracking down the original.

This happened to me with some Asian films a few years ago, inferior remakes which led me to track down enjoyable originals, Shall We Dance and The Lake House (Il Mare) come to mind.

I support, defend and always employ the Oxford comma.
