Are we supposed to like the lead character Juliana? SPOILERS
I don't like her character. Everything she's done, I find myself wishing for her character's demise. Can any one help me out?

shareas reveal at the end of S2 , she seems to play an important role in the grand scheme of things.
shareShe is a Jonah. Anyone connected with her just watch out!
shareYeah, I know. But I felt like that dialogue in the last episode with 'the Man' was to justify her shooting Tate Donavon's character in the back. Especially when he was the one protecting her. And to think that the kid turned himself in anyway only amplified just how terrible she (her character) is. But here is 'the Man' telling her that it's ok that she shot Tate's character in the back because it allowed for Smith to stop a nuclear war between Japan and Germany. Problem is, THAT'S NOT WHY SHE DID IT (I found myself screaming this to the tv). I REALLY LOATHE her character.
Since the first season when she left Frank to help Joe and the Japanese killed Frank's sister and her kids. Her disregard of the consequences of her actions just keep mounting. And she seems to only care about the Nazis in her life, being protective of them and their secrets.
Kill her off already.
Absolutely. It was pretty stupid with the man and Juliana, trying to justify her actions in NYC. She killed them off for planning to go through the Smith blackmail or expose which would have killed the already dying kid. That apparently made the resistance as bas as the nazis.
Sometimes these characters get so naive that it's ridiculous.
But that is the point - her character is an idealist and idealism walks hand in hand with a certain naivety. Every reality she had an idealistic stance relative only to her view of the world.
The man in the high castle (show and character) seems to have a morally relative view of the world and considers atomic weapons a larger threat than anything else. ie - the Nazis may have killed millions in the holocaust but that was over a number of years, atomic bomb drops kill hundreds of thousands in seconds so atomic bombs represent the larger threat. I can't shake the feeling that the man in the high castle is related to Hiroshima somehow - that the alternate history exists because someone tried to avert Hiroshima.
I agree with most of what you wrote except for this,
Especially when he was the one protecting her.
The resistance is as bad as the occupiers since they have no regard for innocent lives as well.
shareShe's too beautiful. Its hard not to think that everybody just loves everything she does because of the way she looks. She could walk around being a total stupid lazy bitch and everybody would tell her how great she is. She's that gorgeous.
shareThat's the equally frustrating part. She gets called on her BS when she's confronted as the bird with the broken wing but to the audience that's watching this show what are her redeeming qualities. Why are we suppose to care for her.
shareI get the feeling she'll get the Man in the High Castle killed next season and because she let Smith live
shareI dislike her as well. I feel nothing for her character. She's only capable of making one or two facial expressions anyway and she's boring. I don't find her pretty at all, either. She seems to be the center of everything and I've about had it with her.
John 3:16
I also think she looks part Japanese, which confused me very much in the beginning.
John 3:16
As much as I love the series (and I DO), I've got the same problem. I understand it's not very kind to say so and of course it's subjective.. and I don't mean to be mean or offend the actress who is doing her best (I liked the scene when she is interrogated seeking asylum) and seems to be such a nice person from afar (in interviews etc.), but I can't deny I couldn't relate with the character at all.
I don't actively wish for Juliana's demise (and anyway it's pretty clear she is no way near to die) but I can't sympathize either, even if we are clearly supposed to.
We were supposed to find her relatable, the 'normal girl who finds herself in a situation bigger than herselves and fights back'... but I really couldn't.
I don't know where the flaw lies, whether it's me lacking empathy or the actress or the script or more likely all the above. She spent the whole S1 either crying or whispering (this is due to the actress, I guess - ?), which I found incredibly annoying and it seemed to me that she always wore the same two facial expressions (maybe that's just me being unable to appreciate her acting - ?); meanwhile, the character was acting recklessly and stupidly putting everyone around her in danger while escaping death situations with a luck unrivalled if you don't count Disney's Gladstone Gander (this is the script), which apparently keeps happening in S2 too (I haven't watched all of it yet).
In S1 it looked like everyone got under her spell (Frank of course, Joe after just saw her, Tagomi, etc.) while I couldn't join the party and therefore I felt like I was watching from the window, thinking 'why is everyone taking risks for her?'.
Despite all those tears and the constant whispering, I didn't find her able to convey her pain to me, throughout the show I constantly felt like I was watching someone acting as if in pain... at the contrary, I felt the pain where - maybe, or maybe not - I was less supposed to feel it ... when I watched that 1x08 scene where John Smith is told Thomas is ill, I felt my heart would break, you could read it all on John's face, the shock, the realization, the hope, the horror.. and he wasn't even crying. I may be biased because Rufus Sewell is one of my favourite actors but I could sympathize with him in a way I couldn't with Juliana, despite him being a Nazi and she being someone who is fighting for freedom.
Actually, I don't truly think I'm being biased because it's not just Smith...I sympathize with Minister Tagomi (great actor imo!) with Ed, even with Helen, Thomas and Childam more than with Juliana... certainly I would be more sad for their deaths than for hers.
And I don't care at all about the love triangle.
Plus, as a woman, I can't stand her 'bird with broken wings' aura and attitude, not even if it's a facade (as if it was new stuff that the little bird uses her eyelashes to get what she wants from men...badass women don't have any use for those cheap tricks). In WWII history we had women who knew their sh*** like Virginia Hall and Nancy Wake and in fiction we are stuck with a resistance member who gets herself killed in 2x01, a spoiled girl playing the spy and Juliana...disappointing.
It's a man's show, no question. She can be the closest thing to a the protagonist the show has, still it's not Juliana's show.
I am glad we saw more of Helen behind the dutyful-wife postcard (and I do like the actress), but let's be real here, there is no great female character in this show.
The show as a whole is great and I can't wait to finish S2 (and to watch S3 - finger crossed) but personally the only characters I find truly compelling are John Smith, Inspector Kido and Minister Tagomi. Besides the political big picture, their storylines are the only 'private-life' storylines I care about (and I hope Ed survives).
i don't like her

I don't like Frank either. Wherever there heart takes them, they run without considering consequences for any one else in their lives.
The road of life is paved by indecisive squirrels.
