Who killed the crown prince and Hitler?

Is it really Heusmann or it's just Smith's fabrication to stop the war?

reply

He didn't make it up. They were plotting this all along. Heydrich, who was kept alive from season 1 never gave out the name of the higher ranking officer in Germany who was part of the treason plot. That is until he is duped into believing that Officer Smith has been sent back to Berlin and is going to be killed after Hitlers death that he naively says Heil Heusmann! thus giving his accomplice name finally.

The crown prince of Japan lives. He isn't dead, unless you desire a plot twist in which the royalty and military kept his death quiet for political reasons.

reply

I keep forgetting that he lived. I wonder if he'll play a more prominent role in S3.

Brevity is the soul of wit.

reply

No one killed Hitler, he died from Parkinson's.

reply

That would be a much more reasonable explanation. `The Japanese didn't kill him, Heusmann did` seems like substituting one stupid conspiracy theory to manipulate the masses for another. But maybe it would be considered disrespectful to admit that Hitler could die of natural causes.

reply

I think the Japanese general had it correct: it was just 'bait', when that defecting Nazi had evidence that a Nazi sniper shot the Crown Prince. Heusmann's men were hoping to provoke the Japanese into attacking-- of course, they didn't take the bait--- so Heusmann upped the stakes and falsely accused the Japanese of murdering Hitler, as a justification to attack in retaliation.

I don't think it was ever true-- I think Hitler probably DID just die of natural causes. Which is funny... I like to think Heusmann probably procured falsified evidence of Hitler's "murder" and that's now going to be used AGAINST Heusmann.

Sometimes fires don't go out when you're done playin' with them.

reply

I think you're correct. We don't see anything on the show that indicates Hitler was actually assassinated by anyone, all we have is Heusmann's assertion that the Japanese did it, but we already know by that point that Heusmann's goal is to create a public justification for war with Japan, thus I think we're intended to infer that Heusmann fabricated the assassination story.

reply

Heusmann was the mastermind, but it took a full blown conspiracy.

If I were you, I'd wanna be me too.
