I hope the Overmeyer does a better job running S3. S2 was great towards the end, but mostly it just dragged.

This will be the only comment or reply you'll get. Like I give a sh!t about YOUR interwebz opinion.

I keep seeing people say it dragged but I really can't see where they would make logical cuts except maybe Joe Blake not having daddy issues.

However, I loved the stint in Berlin.

If I were you, I'd wanna be me too.

That's great news!

BTW, IMDb has a habit of munging URLs. You can remove it inserted at the end of your URL, but for now, here's a working URL (assuming that it doesn't suffer the same fate!):

And here's another article on Deadline.com that has a bit more information about Eric Overmyer:

Overmyer is an awesome producer, but I hope he doesn't Bosch or Treme it up.

This is a different show than what he usually does.

I just watched the entire show a week ago. Great news! 

I have to admit season 2 did drag a bit though. It took me awhile to get into it but it got strong by the end. It wrapped up nicely. Can't wait for season 3.

reply

 yay! now we just have to wait a year to watch it.

If you want a speedy storyline you might as well make it a 8-part mini-series. If you want a complete story that lasts 4-6 seasons, it will tend to be a bit more slow moving. I don't want a fast paced series that skips over the major details. This series spends a lot of time on character development and it's brilliant. John Smith for example is an evil man, so we think, but they humanized him in the second season and you almost feel for him at times with his sons troubles, etc. I didn't feel the season moving slow at all...it was perfectly paced and enjoyable.

reply

Yes, I don't think there was a slow episode in the negative sense. Many episodes were more dramatic than others rather than action-oriented, but that's how it should be. It isn't Red Dawn.

I just hope they continue doing interesting things with the concept and don't get cancelled on a cliffhanger. I'd like to know more about the rules of alternate universe travelling and learn the story of how the so called "Man in the High Castle" learned how he had this ability and decided to use it for political purposes.

Actually visiting alternate universe that are neither ours nor the show's primary one could be interesting, too. I'd like to see Tagomi permanently escape.

This is one of the things I'm afraid will get lost in the move to the new showrunner. The first season subtly set up that there were multiple other timelines besides the TMitHC timeline and the Cuban Missile Crisis timeline (which is similar to, but not necessarily, our own timeline), but the second season didn't really elaborate on that, which worries me that the show will move towards the idea of there just being two timelines.

I think seeing Smith go down into Hitler's film archive at the end of S2 is a hopeful sign that we'll see some more stuff about the alternate realities in S3.

Brevity is the soul of wit.

Yes, I appreciate what wormholeboy is saying, that the new people may take the story in different directions, especially now that everything even loosely inspired by the book has been done.

But the multiple timeline thing is such a big part of the original premise. When discussing or showing the films we see the defeat of Germany and Japan and the hydrogen bomb testing which could have come from our timeline or one very similar.

But then, there was one that showed Stalin alive after he's already dead in our universe and theirs. And of course, there was what seemed like an alternate present with the war between Germany and Japan actually happening.

reply

Yeah, I do not understand the complaints about this season being slow. To me everything was happening at an extremely brisk rate, way mor eo than Season 1.

No f@cking sh`t lady does it sound like I'm ordering a pizza!
