Joe and Juliana Question

Hi please can someone tell me why the SS Officer who was questioning Juliana when she was trying to get her asylum in the Reich, believed that her and Joe had a sexual relationship?
He said something like "that's not the information we have" when she denies she's been sexual with him. Then, later on he mentions to Smith that Juliana "lied about her relationship with Joe"
Really confused. where would he have got that info from - does that mean Joe stated they had sex (although this was definitely not shown) I just found it puzzling since he laboured on it a few times as if it's supposed to mean something?

A bluff. Interrogation technique.

No that doesn't make any sense because after he's done with the interrogation, the Officer reports back to John Smith that Julianna has lied about her relationship with Joe therefore meaning that somehow they believe she had sex with him
Or have some evidence they did?!?!

The only reason I think they would think this is because Joe allowed Juliana to spend the night in his room after she was attacked by one of those bounty hunters. They were also seen hanging around with one another a fair bit. So it would be easy for people to assume there was a more serious relationship. Not to mention that Joe was moping around in NY and then in Berlin over her.
