Is the world of TMITHC doomed?

Do you think they'll be able to prevent destruction by nuclear or biological warfare for very long?

I remember hearing a speculation a long time ago that the survival of all technologically advanced worlds is tested by the fact that at some point they discover weapons that could destroy all life, all intelligent life, or at least permanently destroy civilization.

A second crisis without a clever last minute ploy by Smith might be in their near future. Maybe somewhere between '65 and '70. Some Reich subjects may survive in the space colonies they were talking about building soon, but that wouldn't be much of a life and would be pretty dangerous, too.

Some ideas:

-Conventional global nuclear war.

-Japan, to make up for it's lower level of technology develops a less accurate but much more destructive super-weapon. Kind of a Dr. Strangelove scenario, except I think they'd be smart enough to announce it's existence, but the Nazis would think they were bluffing.

-Biological weapons get out of control; especially if they were supposed to only kill one group or certain breeds of crops and farm animals but aren't as selective as their makers thought.

I hope Tagomi is with his family for good by then.
