shareI was thinking that even if he's dead in the current universe, an alternate Frank could theoretically come from the other one. The Trade Minister managed to live in both, so why not the other characters?

While I'd like to see that, this element could easily be over done.
I'd like to imagine the lives of the characters in their alternate universes:
Smith--A mean high school teacher nostalgic for his glory days in the military.
Mrs. Smith--Left him for a rich guy some time ago.
Sarah--Probably active in the civil rights movement due to her childhood experiences.
Frank--A successful artist.
Ed--His old friend and hanger on much like now.
Joe--A beatnik.
Kido--A tough, no-nonsense cop on the streets of Tokyo.
The General--His superior in the police dept. who is often mad at him.

Interesting! It would be fantastic if the show allows us to see all or most of the characters from the other timeline and how each of them developed. We already know Juliana remains consistent. I could so see Smith as the mean school teacher! lol

Yea, couldn't you see all his speeches about order and discipline being a little less imposing without the uniform. :)

Teacher Smith majors in world history and was especially obsssesed with the failed German Reich and the Holocaust. The students were scared of him.
shareThere are many opportunities to see some of them in "our" reality, but only if it serves the story. For example, there was a very good reason that only Tagomi was apparently able to make the trip to the other side. His part, along with Inspector Kido, John Smith and Juliana Crain was absolutely crucial.
I wonder what news Juliana's sister brings from the other side. Now that WW3 has been averted apparently they will move toward bringing down the Nazis and possibly the Japanese. I hope the plot of the show does not "flatten" in season 3, as often happens, so that the ratings do not dive, it is renewed again, and the story is completed (in 4 or 5 max seasons, I guess, 5 should always be the limit for good shows).
