Cause thats the secret to making a successful tv series, not just the plot or background story. I seriously cant connect with any character in this show. The only person i kinda like is the Trade Minister. I think hes the only one here with real acting talent.
Was thinking the same thing during the series; Juliana, Frank and Joe are all three not likable. Inspector Kido, John Smith and Trade Minister much more interesting. Also I found it really fascinating to see Hitler and Himmler, would have love to have seen Goebbels, Goring or for example Mussolini briefly or other real life people.
That was real? I saw that movie, I thought it was bullsh*t
I agree to some extent but I thought it was interesting, as the show progressed, how some characters who were "good" did bad things and how those who were "bad" turned out to do some honourable things.
It's much more interesting to have grey characters, than those who are black or white, wholly good or bad, because I think that is more realistic. John Smith may be a Nazi who has done some terrible things for his job but he is also a man who wants to protect his family and his country - isn't that honourable?
Juliana does some things which seem to betray her kind (helping Joe and The Smiths etc) but she does it because she believes in people, not in one cause.
As for acting talent, I'm not sure where you are looking because the nuanced performances of most of the main cast are just what I would call talent. They aren't one dimensional, they all have layers.
I believe its to do with the fact that most of these characters are pretty robotic when they choose their actions. I dont see any emotional conflict within themselves. Things happen in the show that's suppose to be horrible but everyone seems to get by easily. Theres no reinforcement of that conflict throughout either. Especially when it comes to their choice of action. Yes that person died but that's OK ill do this... Oh that just happened, Ok ill do that...
All that robotic action and reaction also explains the lacking of real talent comment I made.
