Season 2 ending - even better than Season 1
Devastated :-(
Poor Martin, hasn't he suffered enough. Saga, how could you????

I don't think she would be able to hide it for very long, but it doesn't seem like she did it light heartedly.
This sentence has nothing to do with what I just have written above.
I think this episode was rather weak and unconvincing (and almost unnecessary) compared to the nine previous ones.
shareI have to disagree.
The side story has been about the affect of the events of season 1 and Jens on Martin, him trying to come to terms with it and eventually failing and losing everything. He was truly a broken man and only had Saga left.
Killing Jens was a natural step for him to take to rid himself of his demons.
Right up to the last scene I was convinced it would end showing Saga burning the cup...
The thing is the autopsy would have shown Jens died from a specific kind of poison. From there, it wouldn't be hard to see who could have access to it, who would have a motive to kill him (and who was the last person to visit him). Martin didn't think it through, he was too messed up emotionally. He would have gotten caught either way IMO.
shareSo, Gertrud worked with Oliver? Or had they disctinct agendas? They never seemed to conspire together in the scenes in which they are both.
shareThat's exactly what I'm confused about myself.
And how did the police even decide that she must be the other criminal involved?
Cause she's a researcher with a "top notch lab"? Come on now...
I understand that the authors wanted that last episode to serve as a bridge (no pun intended lol) to the next season, but it was kind of a clumsy ending as far as the eco-terrorism stuff is involved.
They should have wrapped up things with the last episode, move some of these ideas to next year and save us fifteen minutes of people walking up and down hotel corridors with tense music on
I really enjoyed the last episode, ultimately despite Martin and Saga knowing each other's secrets, Saga kept true to her character and shopped him in....despite having admitted she'd committed a crime in order to get her sister away from the family home.... I am probably the only one who thought that the mysterious shadowy figure who shot Gertrude was Rasmus...I know they wouldn't have a bad guy cop two seasons in a row but...The only other suspicious loose end was the father of the girl who got shot in the car (the one who didn't call the police when he should)but the killer seemed a younger guy...Great show anyhow.
shareIt isn't very likely that Rasmus is the one who shot Gertrud. Gertrud seemed to know the person who shot her. He spoke Danish. When Rasmus met her at Medisonus, it didn't seem like they knew each other, even when alone together. Besides he is way too unproffesional to play that doublerole.
I read somewhere that the man who shot Gertrud, is someone we haven't seen yet
This sentence has nothing to do with what I just have written above.

Yeah, why would Rasmus have anything to do with this? He worked on the case even after being dropped from it. He told the cops where he had taken Gertrud, why would he do that??
As to the mysterious guy in the shadows . . . I don't know if we've met him. I'm hard pressed to think of any of the male characters in Season 2 that could be him.
Also it seemed to me that the shadowy figure was way higher then Rasmus.
shareSo doesn´t this mean that the third season will be vastly different than its predecessors!? No Saga and Martin working together anymore?! How can people like this ending???
shareI was wondering the same thing. I loved the 2nd season, even more than the brilliant 1st one. I started watching this show because of Kim Bodnia. So I was glad to read that the first two episodes for season 3 have been written and Martin will be in it. But I am curious about how he will take part in the storyline. Once convicted/jailed he will not be able to come back to being a policeman and I'm afraid that will take something out of the series that I don't know if I can do without.
I'm hoping (against hope) that there is a possibility that he actually didn't do it, but I can't think of the why and how. It will be a long wait...
Yes, a very long wait, indeed. I´m glad we are on the same page. If they mirrored the second season of what is to become in the third season with Martin sitting in jail and Saga visiting him, I will forever be done with this series. But many twists and turns are custom for this whole story, so anything is possible at this point, I guess. I just loved them working together, so I, too, really really hope that he will somehow be in the series within the same concept as before. How they will manage that is a mystery to me. Do you have any site that you go to in order to get more information of season three? Thanks for your reply and Happy New Year!
shareThe only person I can think of was the head of competing medical company who said he would start a war. He was only in one scene though.
shareI think there are some possibilities for it being Rasmus. He alerts the group of 4 at the beginning to the fact police have knowledge of them so that they don't get caught and can all be disposed of. He leads police to the dead body of Madsen in the barrel so that they believe his body deteriorated in acid and they don't examine the skeleton thoroughly discovering the plague. Then his last final attempt of distracting the police further by saying it was Bodil who was the accomplice of Oliver. All of this under the guise of shoddy policing. Just a theory anyway.
shareTerrific series final episode totally gripping.. Shooter in the dark was Taller and slimmer than the unfortunate Rasmus.... I thought it could be police night shift guy who was partly hiding his computer screen from Saga in the final ten mins but that would be odd. However it seemed also that some sort of outside force that may or may not be outed in season 3 ( which is going to be a long time coming .. 2016 according to writer Rosenfeldt last night on the BBC4 blog also stated the shooter was unknown. ( at that time) maybe they will review that
shareI thought the guy in the shadows was Marcus Stenberg, he was connected to the case in several ways but always managed to weasel his way out of being suspected. He was so bland & colourless that I constantly forgot about him, until he cropped up again in the story. But that was ideal for someone who was in the background letting others do the dirty work.
When I saw the guy in the shadows, I thought the height, build & hair style was exactly like him.
I could be wrong, I guess I will wait for season 3 to find out.
I've rewatched that scene, and it doesn't look like Marcus.
Also, apparently the shadow man spoke in Danish, completely native speaker-like, and Marcus is Swedish.
Finally, the writer has said he doesn't even know who the shadowy man is himself! Or even if he will bother to wrap up that plot. In any case, it's supposed to be a mystery.
I'm not convinced Shadowy Guy was Marcus but I have to say that it did cross my mind - and at the very least I did wonder how he seemed to slip through so many nets throughout the series!
But I think he really was a red herring in the end - and just the victim of Oliver trying to make him a scapegoat because he left Viktoria after an abortion...
I wouldn't say she worked with him more like she played him for her higher agenda. He on the other hand was so blinded by love for his sister that he went along with anything just to keep "protecting" Victoria.
sharei loved how they used the second verse of the theme song 'hollow talk' over the last couple off scenes of Martins arrest and then had it continue into the end credits as it normally does. i found it quite powerful and sad and moving all at once.

Very much agreed, Hugo!
George Lucas talking about: 'Hey, give it to me, I'll fix it. I'll make 20 more of them'
I wasn't expecting a Hollywood ending, but I was disappointed that Martin wasn't able to move on. It's not like anyone ever gets over something like that, but still ... this shows gives us a great character and makes us love the guy, and then dumps all over him. Couldn't they have cut him a little bit of slack?
We report, you decide; but we decide what to report.

Many questions still...
I still wonder how Saga knew that Martin had taken coffee to Jens, and also how she knew where to find the empty cup. And I agree with pminson that Martin should not have been dumped... but, knowing how this show has so many twists, who knows if he really did it. Yes, he doesn't defend himself, and at the end when he is taken away in the police car, he sends a long sad look at her... why?
As I remember there was a scene where she saw him throw a cup into to trash can...
Any ways - here's my theory on what's going to happen regarding Martin in Season 3!
Let's not give up on him too quickly!!!
True there is a vial of poison missing and true Jens was apparently poisoned but I think Martin (being the very clever and cunning detective that he is) may have poisoned Jens but not with the missing vial poison (he only took the vial to mislead Saga... - as well as 'seeding' throwing away the coffee cup (which will be found to contain no evidence of poison) in front of Saga - and since there is no way to connect him to taking the vial and no way to connect him to the poisoning and the way of poisoning, there will be no proof to convict him so he will be released.
- and here's the best part, he and Saga will be working together again in Season 3.
He will accept that Saga had to turn him in and all will be forgiven and understood.
In fact didn't she say in (maybe) the last episode that she was wrong to stop Martin from killing Jens (or words to that effect)... - so she accepts that it w/b the right thing to do for Martin killing Jens - but of course with her 'digital' behavior she would have to turn Martin him under the circumstances... - but can fully accept if the legal system doesn't find him guilty...
Works for me...
i think Jens Hansen is not dead and he will come back, he has faked his death with some outside help as he has a fallowing now.
