Wow! One of the best seasons of police drama - ever!
This started out as a novelty, a neat little cross-border police drama with a twist, and one fantastic character in Saga. That middle of the border device turned out to be quite popular, but the rest of it was a by the formula serial killer is actually out for one of the main cop character things, a plot that is rather contrived in my view. As it turns out, I can forgive that, because it was critical for the stunning ending of season two, of course.
But this season started off with a bang and never let up, a straight forward chase that involved all of the characters and side plots developed, but where the police were just doing their job, trying to run it all down. And it was a well thought out terrorist threat that isn't over yet, of course. Season three, without Martin? Certainly sets up that way, if they go for it.
Who'd a thunk it, that these TV stations from Denmark and Sweden put together one of the greatest seasons ever done, ten solidly connected episodes of thrills, humor, personal drama, it's just remarkable. And I wonder how many people outside of the relatively small audience there and in Britain, eventually, will ever see it or know how great it was?
By the way, I'm sure it's been said by someone, but . . . outstanding opening credits. I get all teared up when I hear that music start. I'm going to have to visit just to cross that bridge once in homage. A class act all the way around.
