Am I missing something or..? S3 Final spoilers

Why did Emil call Helle Anker and Freddie Holst his "Creators"?
Ok I get that Freddie is his father, but Helle?
He said his mother died when he was five,then he was sent to his foster parents.
What does Helle got anything to do with him being born? How is she his "creator"?

I wondered about this too and I found out that Helle was the founder of the fertility clinic (and later sold it). They probably mentioned that in the first episode, but I forgot about it.
