Has anyone noticed that the cops in any of the nordic crime series never moan about salary, cut backs, budgets etc in all American cop shows its all they seem to do even The Wire had a whole season based on how they could get the funds to solve there case !obviously the nordics have no problem with money when it comes to solving crime and rightly so they can learn a thing or 2 from our nordic cousins the Americans,it doesn't look or sound right when there's lives on the line and all they worry about is budgets
It's just 1 point I felt needed pointing out here and interesting to know if anyone else got the same, now if u think I get an opinion of a country from a TV show maybe sir u are a little disturbed and should not be reading these page if u take offence,
She took it home like first or second episode of S3, maybe another episode...when her mom confronts her at her house and she closes the door in her face and was I guess very angry and she put her gun in a drawer and locked it.
It's fiction, a person with Sagas condition would never be allowed to become a police officer for one, others with the capability to hide their abnormal traits sure but she's not even trying so that would be a fail at the academy.
Her having hid it at the academy and then developed an oblivious approach later is not an option since that proves she's not oblivious but supercalculated.
An expert advisor sure but a cop no.
Then there is the part about her living at an address which screams upper middle class, that's not within reach for a single income household on a police salary. It's not once been touched upon, her expensive car has at least been discussed but one would think this would've been a topic of interest to interject someplace.
Them having written Saga as being beyond moneyproblems is just a romantic choice of the writers and has nothing to do with reality where understaffing, lowgrade and lacking equipment, time and resource wasting red tape all of which is a moneydrain on the system and force police into mandatory overtime with pay for this naturally dragging behind as management have calculated with a best case scenario which never jives with reality.
In short just like any other public service job.

Why you think she has a low salary? She's not a traffic police. I've got a lot of family members and friends who are cops (not traffic but other functions), they all have a decent salary (more then I have). Not like a doctor or a lawyer, but still enough to live comfortable in a nice house. And Saga doesn't have children and never goes on holiday, so she can spend all her money on her flat. She uses the car for her work, so that is (partially) paid by her work.
It's a doctors and lawyers location, it's all I'm saying, if she spends all her money on the apartment it's because she wants to get away from ordinary people and that says something about her.

No we really don't! I know a few cops, they live in safer areas of town sure but not in flashy apartments at the waterfront. That is pure fiction and Malmö marketing.

Well, she is forty ears old, have no hobbies and no live exept from her job and she probebly has saves up some money to buy an insatslägenhet. Alot in the series might be fiction but not her flat.
She lives in a oneroom flat with cheap furnitures and wear the same cloths all the time. And it might be a Porsche but it's old and have a terrible color.
And I'm not sure about her condition, she is a great cop and solves her crimes.
In the series it is often shown that her work is the only thing Saga cares about. Even when she's eating, it's always in haste and something microwaved. She just doesn't care about things like furniture, living spaces and clothes. She's always wearing the same clothes because she feels comfortable in them so she sees no point in looking for new clothes.
"Saga's Condition"? There are plenty of people out there 'on the spectrum'--- and highly functional at their profession. What exactly is disqualifying about her "condition"? She is a highly competent, reliable, trusted employee. This is Fiction! In Fiction we have routinely accommodated raging alcoholics with anger management problems, no social skills and a penchant for violence! --- The plot of most cop shows!
Very true -- haha. I like her a lot, only watched two episodes so far, I am late to the party but loving the skandi-vibe and the female lead .. although obviously got lots of puzzles about who/what the non-lead stories are all about ... I look forward to it being pieced in ...
I hope you continue! You have many hours of wonderful character to watch. As I said, the number of "detectives" that are socially disfunctional, showing totally unlikable behaviors are legion. I am truly sick of the medical/alcohol abusing males with anger management issues... as HEROS! Presented as "Victims" --- of what I know not! A rather worn-out premise.
