Questions about Episode 8

When Åsa, Freddie's wife, is waiting at her ex-husband's door, he walks in carrying a shovel. Why did he have it? What had he just done? Did the writers ever provide an explanation that I missed?

Does anyone else find Emil's wounds which are later revealed to be self-inflicted a bit far-fetched? How could he make them as extensive as he did? How also could he possibly make the marks inside his mouth?

With Sara's flat, Annika's house, Jeanette's cottage, and Claes's apartment, each of the front doors opened outwards. Is this a standard thing in Denmark unlike in North America where they always open inwards?

reply

Atleast in Sweden it's pretty mixed which way the doors open. Don't know about Denmark tho but i wouldnt be surprised if it's the same there.

reply

Thanks. It just seemed weird that EVERY single front door shown opened outwards. I thought it was just too often for it to be a coincidence.

reply

The shovel was just to confuse us.
And Emil was a really crazy guy....

All doors in Sweden open outward. The US has alot to learn about building houses.....

I can't be bothered to have a sig any-more.

reply

The shovel was because he had buried his fathers body himself. He tells Saga and Henrik he has just buried his father, they presume he means a funeral.

reply

Here in America front doors in residences open inwards because the hinges are on the inside & cannot be removed during a burglary. Front doors of public buildings open outwards because of crowd safety (during a fire, e.g.).
