Full circle Saga (MAJOR SPOILERS SEASON 3 ending)

Interesting to see Saga nearly let Emil die in revenge for Hans. We saw Henrik pleading with her to save Emil and she cried out that he killed Hans.

So she wasn't going to help him. One can only wonder what was going through the character Saga's head?

Martin acted in revenge and killed someone and she shopped him right into prison.

Now, she's nearly done the same thing, though not proactively; but the result would have been the same if she'd not acted after Henrik's frantic pleas.

We are left to wonder if Henrik hadn't been there saving her from herself if she'd have saved Emil--thereby doing what Martin did, essentially.

We see after all the pressures of this year--the losses, psycho mom on the path of revenge, the betrayal by colleagues, etc.--she's been pushed SO far toward the edge like Martin was by the end of the last series, that she could do the same thing he did.

Which would have been unthinkable for her at the end of series 2, when she turned Martin in.

I really like this side of Saga. For a functional autistic who is so detached from everything to be so emotionally attached to someone that they would lose their strong sense of morality over their death... It's magnificent.

She was so believable as an autistic person that I found myself wondering a few times whether she might actually be somewhat like that in real life. Brilliant actress!

Don't see how Martin could be included in season 3 since Bodnia wanted out of the show.

Sofia Helin is just magnificent in this scene. The hateful looks towards Emil, teeth bared and all. The poison in her eyes.

And yes, I do think that Saga now knows exactly how Martin felt about Jens.

I also thought that Saga was going to visit Martin in prison, but it turned out to be Emil.

Still the comparisson is made.

reply

So did I. I was excited to see him even if it was for a short scene. I really expected he'd turn up sometime.

I think the difference is Saga was acting in the moment. Martin's was a premeditated bookend to an obsession using police resources. He deserved to be stopped. In the end, even with all the stress and passion of the moment, she did the right thing. It takes just only a few moments to mess up the rest of your life and she did the right thing just in time. That's what matters..

Martin had tons of time to get help or stop himself. After all the culprit was already doing time in prison for the rest of his life. Plus Martin set all of this in motion by screwing the wife of his co-worker. As a police man, martin knows that most murders are related to sex. He should have kept it in his pants better and just waited til she got a divorce, or dated someone else. In the end I think Martin killed Jens because he wanted to distance himself from his own responsibility for everything that happened. He also failed to report to everyone that he was being target by Jens for that infidelity. Martin played by his own rules and showed a lot of bad judgment.
