Missing Martin!
He brought a non-intellectual, warm, emotional balance to the proceedings.
shareLet me guess: you in the UK? ☺
shareNot really for me. I think his character ran his course. Like an empty canteen. Henrik brought back some life to the series.
shareWhat?
I'm in the UK because that is how far the plot has progressed?
You're thinking?
I suspect that meant that only seasons one and two are available here in a format most can view. I am searching all over for a way to see the rest of the story. I think I'm going to have to modify my TV. You al in the UK are lucky. The US hasn't caught up with the Nordic Noir trend yet in any significant ways. Too many people here like movies based on comic books featuring, as a friend of mine once said, "Big-titted blondes with chainsaws and tractor-trailers racing up and down the highway." Not that you don't have bad taste in the UK, but intelligent minds (including minds of women) still run a lot of your entertainment, whereas here it is dominated by men with adolescent tastes and educations to match. It is hard to live here these days. Witness the Trump.
Beauty is truth, truth beauty.
@spudwas but surely the purpose of the character is not 'to run its course' but rather develop and add to plot lines.
So there's no surprises.
If we can guess how he would behave in certain situations, that's a good thing surely?
Shows the character has managed to develop into a fully-formed 3-D person?
I'm not sure I quite understand your point.
(Not being aggressive here, just curious).
Finished the series tonight and I'm not sure what the issue with Saga coming full circle is. She's been fitted up (and not very convincingly, I'm not sure how her mother acquired cat burglar skills). The Bridge III was good, but not great (too many threads), and Martin is a big miss.
Best films ever:
Snakes on a Plane
Snakes on a Train
Snakes on a Crane
Snakes on Mark Twain
I miss Martin too. I miss the friendship they had. Its a bit formulaic that Saga is romantically involved with her colleague.
I also found the bridge 3 a bit weak because it was somewhat melodramatic at times (Saga being talked down from suicide by her shining knight Henrik had some viewers in tears but I rolled my eyes) and really far fetched.
Plus all the endearing characters are being written out! First Martin and now Hans 😞
I'm sure I'll watch season 4 though....
^^ This ^^
It was the relationship between Saga and Martin that made The Bridge such excellent television. The third series was extremely weak without it - and the way the series ended was total cheese.
I've just seen a fourth series is scheduled for 2018 - I hope there is some way to work Martin back into the story, because the missing wife and child storyline series 3 ended with looks formulaic and lame.
I also miss Martin. Saga and Martin's relationship was really unique. Plus, I love Kim Bodnia as an actor - He manages to portray emotions that really get under your skin…
However, I will say: I was positively surprised at Martin's "replacement". Thure Lindhardt was a good choice for the job. But I will always miss Martin's character and in the case of future seasons I'll probably always remain hopeful that we'll see him again somehow even though I know it's extremely unlikely.
I thought the show was doomed without Martin, but was pleasantly surprised. I thought Henrik was just as amazing, and his actor fantastic. I also really liked the season overall, way better than season 2.
shareI agree. I love Kim Bodnia, but the new guy is a terrific actor. I love how he does a subtle look of incredulity whenever he hears one of Saga's misspeaks.
shareI do agree that they were the best team but by the end of the last episode aired I was very happy with Henrik and can't wait to find out where things go from here on out!
shareI learned to go with the flow of anything ( at least quality entertainment wise. ) Because after I watched Spooks ( MI5, UK ) You realized you should NEVER get used to or like any character a whole lot. Because they weren't going to be around long. ) People just don't want to do the show anymore, the show improves their standing in the acting world, and they get offered other jobs. Paying more money or having the staring role. You name it. Kim said he wanted out, they wrote him out. Sofia almost had a nervous break down after season 3, because the character of Saga just takes so much out of her. And season 3 was the hardest ( probably why there are only 8 episodes for season 4, which most likely will be the last for the same reason.I miss Martin and will miss Hans. But the show couldn't exist without Saga ( Sofia )
America ( I am one, so don't pick on me, lol. ) Can only WISH that it will once again produce such great TV shows & movies. The likes of which I see coming out of Sweden & Denmark ( and the 2 combined. ) My woman is Swedish and that was how I found out about shows like this, The Killing, Wallander, Beck and a few others. Not to mention at least 20 or 30 movies as well. Usually the only real quality movies America makes anymore. Are the ones that nobody goes to see, but are usually the ones that end up winning the best picture Oscar. lol. I was actually pleasantly surprised to see the American version of the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo was quite good ( but not quite as good as the original ) So of course, it barely even made the money back in America, that it cost to make it. Supposedly they have FINALLY cleared the way for the 2nd part of the trilogy to be made. NOT, lol. I won't hold my breath waiting, that's for sure.
