This isn't that good, too many annoying characters. I didn't care if they lived or died.
Just the description made me think of that (wonderful) movie.

It's impossible not to think of Devil, horror/thriller taking place in an elevator... so, I'm willing to give that a pass.

No, this movie wasn't even in the Devil's league. Obviously it had the same concept, but in terms of quality... Devil was a great movie. This one was sub par.

I, too, really liked Devil, but I thought this movie was pretty good, too. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I thought Elevator was quite clever, even though yes some of the characters were annoying.

I think you are in the minority here jabber. The movie was going good until the end. As much as I hate to say this, it should have been the little brat girl that died instead of the chubby guy who was one of the nicer people on the elevator.
The girl was mischievous.
Oh and the other bad thing about the movie was the slow rescue response time right after the owner first called for help. Whoever he communicated with over the intercom sounded quite unhelpful.
