Come on. Why do we have to see an actor Brosnan's age having an affair with an actress Alba's age? Why would you cast Mc Dowell a 72 year old as the father of 62 year old Brosnan? There are many believable age appropriate actors who could have made this a fast better film.
I just started watching it and think Alba and Bronson being a couple is ridiculous also. I gotta say that Jessica and Selma are 2 of the most beautiful women ever, movie sure has awesome eye candy.

shareProbably because hiring a 90 something would have been problematic. Also i wouldn't say its out the realm of possibility for a Young Women to have an Affair with a older man. Hell Tony Randall had a kid when he was 70 something with a 30 year old wife.
shareIf you didn't have access to the internet and sites such as IMDb you'd never think twice about it. You have to remember, you are seeing characters NOT actors, so only the character's age matters, not the actor's age.

I must agree. I did a double take and immediately checked this site for ages. The casting directors could have done much better on the father and son thing.

As a grumpy old woman, I couldn't imagine getting romantically involved with someone who can't share my life's experience but that's just me. No judgement here.
sure, in real life the age gap is not enough.
but... since we are going purely by what we see in the movie it's plausible enough that there is a big enough age gap between Brosnan/McDowell for the whole son/parent thing even if it's a slight stretch as while they are only 10 years apart in real life it appears there is more than that by purely looking at them. but at the same time, i don't think they look 20 years apart or so though which is generally needed for parent level.
either way, it's not a show stopper or anything as it's not going to make or break the movie by that alone.
