7/10

I watched the new A Christmas Story Christmas movie today. It's the sequel to the 1983 classic, A Christmas Story. Peter Billingsley returns as Ralphie, grown up and with a family of his own. Although not as good as the original, this has enough charm, warmth and humour to make it worthwhile. My rating is a 7/10.

I always wear my onesie while posting on Moviechat.

Yes. What would you rate it?

reply

I haven't seen it. Just the trailer and the concept of it looked brutal.

reply

Really? I liked the trailer. Thought it looked quality.

It certainly looked a hell of a lot better than that straight-to-video sequel from a few years ago:

I agree with this statement.

I give this film a 6/10, there were some scenes that made me cringe but it does get better during the last third of the film.

reply

I give it a 6.5 out of 10. Much of the humor didn’t land and they relied way too much on “member berries”.. it’s worth watching though

reply

I concur, worth 7/10 as I believe Peter Billingsley successfully pulled off an adult Ralphie.

reply

I agree. Nothing can match the original, but this is definitely better than most holiday sequels such as Home Alone 4-6, Christmas Vacation 2, Jingle All the Way 2, and even Christmas Story 2.

I agree, and I might even raise you to an 8. I recently watched "Elf" and "Christmas Vacation", and I liked "A Christmas Story Christmas" much more than either of those. In fact, this is my favorite Christmas movie to come out since the original "A Christmas Story". I'll definitely be watching it again in future Decembers.
