The Movie Macabre flick for Saturday night was "The Satanic Rites of Dracula" (1973). Good flick - I had never seen that one. The 1970s atmosphere of this movie is classic, and Christopher Lee looks great here. I'm glad Elvira is hosting these films - plus I love the updated intro to Movie Macabre.
shareand apparently this dracula was the final one with him starring, i thought the movie titled ad was the last christopher lee flick as dracula, but elvira says in the opening this was the last. one thing i'll never understand is they blur out the woman's nipples but show all kinds of violence, that blurring don't make sense on a dvd release by the way, for example they show a woman getting stabbed below her chest while above blurring out her nipples, i don't care what anybody says, that is something that is really messed up. a half hour in this movie has pretty much stood still, dracula by the way doesn't appear until halfway into the movie and then very briefly, this actually stars peter cushing for sure, good thing that works for me as i see him as the most iconic van helsing, christopher lee and peter cushing must have had played these parts for about two decades by here, still peter cushing does not look that old in this to have a grown up granddaughter, a hammer film production from the 1970's is not typical of what elvira usually hosts, the other feature on the same dvd is similar to that.
